Council is partnering with leading training institutions and industry bodies to help residents develop the skills needed for the jobs of the future.

In response to COVID-19 many of our partners have moved or are offering new programs online. Below are some of the options available.

Deakin University
Free online courses in topics such as Leading Strategic Innovation, Transforming Digital Learning and Professional Resilience.

Holmesglen NEIS - Explore Being My Own Boss
Starting a Small Business Workshop - Starting 13 May 2020
Now is a great time to plan and think through a business idea you wish to create. 10 days, online, this is a thorough way to explore your dreams! No obligation to commence a business after the workshop - but you will emerge well informed for future planning. Funded by Federal Dept. Education, Skills & Employment this workshop is available for free to eligible participants who are working less than 15 hours per week, or on a Centrelink benefits or pensions payment.  

Kangan Instutute – Skills and Jobs Centre
A one-stop-shop for anyone seeking to explore tertiary studies, training, job and career options. Trained staff can provide you with one-on-one ongoing support to guide you through the job search and training process.

Melbourne Polytechnic / AMEP Volunteer Tutor Scheme
The Volunteer Tutor Scheme (VTS) is an important service within the AMEP (Adult Migrant English Program). Volunteers commit to 1-2 hours a week supporting a newly arrived refugee or migrant practise English and learn about life in Australia. VTS training is now available 100% online and is a great way to give back to the community and build your skills and confidence.

La Trobe University
La Trobe University is offering support to businesses and individuals facing the challenges of COVID-19 through a free online leadership development program delivered by the highly regarded La Trobe MBA. Register here

La Trobe University, a Hume Multiversity Partner is introducing programs to support small and medium sized businesses during this crisis. We’ve partnered with Investible to bring the COVID-19 Industry Response Program, and the La Trobe University Business School is offering a free online leadership development program.

The COVID-19 Industry Response Program
This program, is a comprehensive, 12-week online program designed to help businesses adapt and innovate in the face of unprecedented change. This program is delivered by La Trobe Innovation and Entrepreneurship and in partnership with Investible.

This free program is delivered 100% online over 12 weeks, the COVID-19 Industry Response Program supports established retailers, manufacturers and small to medium businesses across all major industries, with real-time workshops, expert mentoring and online learning.
