Hume Libraries

Hume Libraries is Hume City Council’s public library service and consists of five branches and a mobile library. Hume Libraries is your key to a world of information that will ignite your imagination and inspire lifelong learning. These vibrant branches are located at Broadmeadows, Craigieburn, Gladstone Park, Tullamarine and Sunbury are for everyone to share and enjoy.

Becoming a Library Member
Joining the library is free and easy; you can do it online or by visiting any of our Hume Libraries branches.  Signing up only takes a moment and you just need to show proof of your name and current address. If you are under 18 years old, a parent or guardian’s signature is required upon signing up.

Services
Hume Libraries offer a wide range of services with collections in 14 languages other than English including books, DVDs, magazines, and newspapers.  We offer a range of free cultural activities and events for all ages.  For more information about the current listing of activities, please refer to our What’s On Booklet available from your library or online. Access to internet, Wi-Fi, computers, photocopying, and scanning is also available. There are also lots of materials for learning English, including print and online formats.

English Conversation Group
Is English your second language? Do you want to improve your English language skills? Practice speaking English with our friendly volunteers in informal and interactive group sessions with other beginners. These sessions are free, and bookings are not required. Come along to make new friends!
The group meets every Tuesday at Broadmeadows Library between 12pm – 2pm.

Collections
The Libraries’ collection includes materials in 14 languages, an array of electronic resources, including eBooks, eMovies and eMagazines such as PressReader that also has an extensive range of global newspapers and magazines in community languages. In addition, there are eLearning resources such as Lynda.com and links to career and job exploration services.

Books, magazines, newspapers, and DVD's are available in 14 community languages (please note that not all materials may be available in all languages). This table outlines the physical language collections available at each Hume Libraries branch.
