Return Chutes to re-open

The Victorian Government has released a roadmap for reopening, which outlines the path to ‘COVID normal’.

In the first step of this plan, commencing Monday 14 September, Hume Libraries will be reopening the return chutes at the Broadmeadows, Craigieburn and Sunbury libraries.

This means, if you live within 25km of any of these branches, you can start bringing back your books and other library items!

These items will be quarantined and then returned to the collection – ready for other members to access them.

We are planning to restart our ‘Click & Collect’ service to offer contact-free collection service for those who can visit us, as well as expanding the Hume Libraries Express service for those who can’t. However, we need a little time to quarantine and process returns first.

You can help get the word out by posting a photo of yourself returning your library items (don’t forget to wear your mask and social distance) on social media and using #bringbackyourbooks.

Follow Hume Libraries on Facebook and subscribe to What’s On eNews to be kept up to date.

If you have any questions, please contact your local library.

Things to remember:

  • If you live more than 25km away from Broadmeadows, Craigieburn and Sunbury library, you will not be able to return your library items at this time. We are working on other methods of returning books for these members.

  • If you are feeling unwell or have been in contact with someone who has symptoms of coronavirus, please make sure you get tested and then isolate at home. Your returns can wait.

  • If you are able to return your books, please ensure that you wear a mask when you leave home, remember to social distance and to sanitise your hands.

  • If you are having difficulty accessing library items, contact your local library – we might be able to help.

We’re looking forward to seeing you back in our branches soon. In the meantime, we’re making sure all the correct precautions are in place to keep you and our staff safe.
