From 1 July 2021, all the libraries of Hume City Council are switching to 100 per cent GreenPower. GreenPower is carbon neutral electricity from renewable energy sources such as wind or solar. All of Council’s electricity use will now be from GreenPower, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by approx. 17,500 tonnes (CO2-e) per year. That’s equivalent to removing an average of 5,000 Australian cars from the road. Through a long-term Power Purchase Agreement, Council has been able to source GreenPower at a very competitive rate, reducing costs and emissions, supporting renewables and contributing to a healthy future.

Hume residents are encouraged to take advantage of generous rebates and consider installing solar through the Hume Solar Rollout program. Residents can also choose to buy GreenPower for their homes. To find out more contact Hume’s Household Energy Officer on 03 9205 2751.
