Storytimes

Social inclusion is a big part of why we love libraries, so we’re taking a library program to community members who face challenges in accessing the library building and programs. Join us at Baptcare Brookview, a Residential Aged Care facility, to make new friendships with senior citizens.

We’ll enjoy our preschool Storytime program with the senior residents as we sing songs, dance and read together.

Bookings are essential. Please book one ticket per person, including both children and adults.

It’s Libraries in the Park! Meet us at Woodlands Historic Park in Greenvale for an outdoor Rhyme Time. Bush babies, tireless toddlers and playful preschoolers welcome!

Please note, this event may be cancelled or relocated in extreme weather conditions including high temperatures and risk of bushfire. We recommend you check the weather conditions and your emails the morning of the event. Bookings are essential, so that we can contact attendees in the event of cancellation or relocation. Auslan Storytime is an inclusive early years program delivered in Australian Sign Language (Auslan) by Deaf storytellers. Sessions are visual, engaging, and welcoming for Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing children and families.

Expression Australia delivers this program in partnership with Hume Libraries as part of a statewide Multicultural Storytime initiative funded by the Victorian Department of Health.

A sensory-friendly storytime with songs, stories and bubbles for children who feel overwhelmed by the noise and size of our regular storytimes. 

This session is limited to 20 children and bookings are required.

Are you a dad with kids aged 0-5 years old? You’re invited to Dad's Storytime! It’s a great way to meet other dads in Hume, bond with your kids, and be an amazing reading role model. Join us for a 30-minute storytime, and stick around afterwards to chat, ask questions, and swap parenting tips.

For children between the age of 3 and 5 years old. Listen to stories and join in for rhymes in both English and either Arabic, Hindi or Punjabi.

For children between the age of 0 to 12 months. Enjoy gentle movements and rhymes as a first introduction to reading.

For children up to 3 years old. Learn rhymes and how to engage your child in reading.

For children between the age of 3 to 5 years old. Listen to stories and complete craft activities with your child designed to help children develop a lifelong love of reading.
